PRIVACY POLICY
Your privacy in Word Squash
Word Squash collects limited game usage information to understand and improve the game, provide score comparisons, and help identify technical problems. The game does not require an account and this information is not linked to your name or email address.
Game usage statistics
Word Squash collects and stores anonymous game usage statistics. These can include:
- puzzle starts and completions;
- sharing actions;
- scores;
- game modes and platforms;
- players’ approximate countries; and
- sponsor-link clicks.
We use this information to understand how Word Squash is used, improve the game, and show how your score ranks among other players completing the same daily puzzle.
Anonymous installation identifier
A random identifier is stored on your device or browser and sent with game usage events and scores. This lets Word Squash recognise activity from the same installation across visits and measure returning players.
The identifier is not linked to your name, email address or a Word Squash account.
Crash reporting in the iOS and Android apps
The iOS and Android apps use Google Firebase Crashlytics to help find and fix faults. Crash reports can include error details and stack traces, app version and app state, device and operating-system information, and installation identifiers.
Website analytics
The Word Squash website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits and page performance in aggregate. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or persistent visitor identifiers for this purpose.
These website statistics are separate from Word Squash’s game usage reporting.
Your choices
You can turn off game usage reporting in Word Squash’s privacy settings. In the iOS and Android apps, the same setting also turns off crash reporting.
After turning reporting off in the app, restart the app so the change fully applies to native crash reporting.
Locally stored game information
Word Squash stores certain information locally on your device or browser so features can work between sessions. This can include scores, puzzle progress or first-attempt state, preferences and settings, notification choices, and other game state.
Notifications
If you enable daily puzzle reminders in the iOS or Android app, Word Squash uses your device’s notification system and local time zone to schedule those reminders. Notification preferences are stored locally on your device.
